CP Rail Westbound Just West of Owego, NY

CP 5785 (SD40-2) leads a westbound CP intermodal train, exercising former D&H trackage rights over Conrail's former Erie/EL mainline. The tracks in the foreground were LV's Auburn branch. I'm not sure who owned them or used them in 1993.

Visitor Comments about this Photo:

The Tioga County Industrial Development Agency acquired the remnants of the LV's Auburn Branch in 1981 from the trustees of the Lehigh Valley RR. By the time of this photo, the operator of the line would have been the Owego & Harford Railway with the Tioga Central RR bowing out in 1992. I'm guessing the photo's vantage point isfrom the Goodrich Settlement Rd grade crossing west of Owego. I think this track segment was used for car storage as there was no industry being served here. Google aerial and Street view photos from 2016-17 show blocks of Hoppers/gons (perhaps for Upstate Shredding use?) and tank cars perhaps for the LPG storage facility at Harford Mills.
