PLLX 1590 by Centenary Avenue in Laconia

Even in mid-October, the boats were still docked at the yacht club by Centenary Avenue, north of Weirs Beach. This was taken 10/17 as the 5:00 pm Turkey Dinner Train passed this scenic view. This was the penultimate Turkey Dinner train, as the final Turkey Dinner train ran on 10/24. The dinner guests were treated to great sunset views of Meredith Bay and Paugus Bay on Lake Winnipesaukee. Dinner was catered by the legendary Hart's Turkey Farm, with all safety and social distancing protocols in place. I speak from experience when I say that guests did not walk away from the dinner table hungry.

There's some Reading heritage with both the locomotive and the visible trailing Budd coach. PLLX 1590 is an SW1001, originally built for the Reading, and went to Conrail, Norfolk Southern, and got the blue paint and overachieving hazard stripes from the CIT Group. RDC-1 #9151 is former Reading, SEPTA, and MBTA.

Taken atop a big rock with thanks and permission from the property owner.
