The 2.5 mile shove to East Binghamton

The July 4th edition of Ayer to Chicago 23K arrived Binghamton on the ex-D&H on the so-called Buffalo track where the power was fueled. The inbound crew from Mechanicville then pulled down to the hand-throw switch at QD and separated the 1st 5 cars of the train to shove 2.5 miles east to pick up the Taylor double stacks to be added to the inbound consist by the outbound crew. Conductor got to enjoy a nice long ride in the fresh air, including a trip across the ex-DL&W through truss bridge across the Susquehanna River. To quote Igor, "It could be worse...it could be raining."
