BO-1 at Saugus Draw

BO-1 MEC 351 heads East with 8 loads for Peabody, over Saugus Draw which spans the Saugus River in West Lynn, MA. Built by the Boston & Maine in 1911, the single-leaf Strauss overhead counterweight bascule bridge was significantly rehabilitated in 1989, and again in 2014. The MBTA has plans to replace the drawbridge in the near future and preparation work has already begun. Over the river in the background is Wheelabrator in Saugus, MA which is a a waste-to-energy facility.
