Amtrak Train 2173 Approaching Kingston Station

Amtrak Acela 2000, operating as train 2173, bears down on Kingston Station at track speed. Barely visible down track 2 in the background is the red board protecting the out-of-service section of track 2 stretching from Kingston Interlocking to Davisville. There is still a few weeks' work left before the red board can be removed. The MBTA Wickford Jct. station is in the middle of the work zone on a stub off of track 1. Wickford Jct has seen only 2 inbound AM trains and 2 outbound PM trains since during the reduced pandemic service period. That reduction, plus the substantial reduction in Amtrak service, has made this construction period a lot less disruptive than last summer's work on track 2 beween Liberty interlocking and High St. in Westerly. However what looks to be full MBTA service to Wickford Jct resumes Monday, June 22 with the arrival of summer. Should make the dispatching somewhat more 'interesting'.
