Binghamton yard: 45 years of change - 1

I suspect I've previously posted this photo of EL SDP45 pulling a typical EL High & Wide train westward on the ex-Erie main at Binghamton in spring of 1971 but it's the set up for the next photo showing how the ex-D&H Eldridge St yard (on the left) and ex-Erie yard usage has evolved over 45 years. In the Southern Tier's pre-Conrail days, the view from the Chenango St bridge was second in fascinating railroad activity only to the pedestrian bridge of the Lehigh Valley engine facility at Sayre.

Photographed by John Barlow, May, 1971.
Added to the photo archive by John Barlow, June 16, 2020.
Railroad: Erie Lackawanna.
