Binghamton yard: 45 years of change - 2

In October 2016, westbound intermodal NS 23K from Ayer MA pulls down to QD to take the ex-Erie main west. Nowadays the Binghamton yard is used primarily by NYS&W (using the ex-D&H Eldridge St yard) for frack sand hopper transloading and by NS for picking up / setting off Taylor (Scranton) double stacked EMP containers. NS carload freight sorting happens across the Susquehanna River at the ex-DL&W Conklin Yard.

Photographed by John Barlow, October 23, 2016.
