MBTA PCC at Capen St on the Mattapan Line

Despite the rebuilt PCC's orange color, this 2.5 mile / 8 station trolley operation is actually part of the MBTA's Red Line and is referred to as the Ashmont–Mattapan High-Speed Line.

The reason that these rebuilt units are being utilized rather than modern units is that newer units cannot handle some of the sharp turning radii of this line.

That, and the existing bridges would need to be updated for the heavier cars.
