Boston & Maine GP9's Leading Freight Out of Mechanicville in 1965

BM 1707 and BM 1708 (GP9's) lead a freight out of the yard at Mechanicville, NY. I don't recall the direction of this train, but I suspect the presence of the end-cab switcher in the train indicates this train is headed east with the switcher headed to a shop at East Deerfield or farther east for some work.
My thanks to Bruce Nelson for getting back to me confirming that this is indeed an eastbound departure, probably a Mechanicville - East Deerfield extra, given the 2 units. Also my thanks to John Barlow for the additional confirmations below.

I searched the North American archive here for any photo with key word "Mechanicville" and found a lot of Bruce Nelson's excellent pix and based on looking at some of them I agree this photo's vantage point is at the east end of B&M's yard looking west at a departing eastbound train. Below is a link to one of Bruce's photos looking eastward at more or less the same spot and the track/switches and pole lines look very similar to your photos of the departing train:
