West Country Class Pacifics at Ropley

As West Country class Bulleid light Pacific Wadebridge departs Ropley on the Mid Hants Railway, a shop worker looks on standing next to another WC class, Bodmin, at the engine servicing facility. Note that Wadebridge represents the as built (1945-1951) appearance of the 110 Southern Railway West Country / Battle of Britain class engines while Bodmin features boiler cladding of the 60 locomotives rebuilt 1955-1961. Unrebuilt and rebuilt WC/BoB engines were removed from BR service by 1967 - 10 original and 10 rebuilt locomotives have been preserved.
