EL Wreck at Campville December 1969 - 1

Don't know the details but in December of 1969, an eastbound EL derailed at Campville NY. A pair of EL hooks are preparing to hoist a "Hydra Cushion" plug door box car that had tumbled down the embankment. Derailments along the under-maintained EL main were not uncommon in the late '60s.

Photographed by John Barlow, December, 1969.
Added to the photo archive by John Barlow, March 10, 2020.
Railroad: Erie Lackawanna.
