Re-Elect Sen Buckley (NY) - 1

Incumbent US Senator Jim Buckley (R) chartered a train to campaign across upstate NY in the summer of 1976 in an effort to gain re-election against Democrat Pat Moynihan. Alas, Moynihan won and served as senator for 24 years and is the namesake for the new train hall adjoining the re-purposed Farley PO in Manhattan but I digress... A pair of rarely seen in these parts Amtrak SDP40Fs leads the special comprising mostly private varnish west through Wayneport NY on Conrail on a summer evening in 1976.

Photographed by John Barlow, 1976.
