Another What a difference 15+ years makes photo!Here's a view through the hurricane fence porthole on the Chenago St overpass in Binghamton (that some rail fan likely cut a few decades back). It's Halloween 2004, and arriving NYS&W SU-99 will back into its Liberty St yard via the QD hand-throw switch.
Many changes have occured in the past 15 years:
- on the left, NYS&W's empty Liberty St yard became a frac sand transload yard
- in the middle, the NS carload freight business is now handled across the river at E Binghamton yard given that NS owns the D&H South lines
- in the upper right, coal trains bound to Bow NH no longer ply these rails.
- UP power is scarcely seen in Binghamton these days.
Good news: NYSW Tunnel motor 3016 and NS C44-9W still thrive for their owners.
