Inbound From Fitchburg

Boston-bound MBTA FP-10 #1113 dusts off the railhead as it passes Milepost 35 and blows for Sandy Pond Road crossing in Ayer. Budd RDCs still made up a good part of the North Side passenger car fleet. Current running practice is for the locomotive to be on the outbound end of trains going into North Station. I am not sure when this changed.

Visitor Comments about this Photo:

Once in a great while, MBTA locomotives will lead inbound these days especially for the first inbound train after a decent snowfall (or windstorm) such as the one you captured here. I guess a leading locomotive does a much better job of plowing snow or trees than does the cab car! I give you lots of credit for braving the cold to capture this image!
