Dereco manifest assaults Belden Hill on D&H in 1971- 1

From 1968 to 1972 Norfolk & Western owned Dereco, a holding company for D&H and EL. Power from both roads was used interchangeably across the two roads. Here, in early spring of 1971, a northbound train climbs Belden Hill on its way out of Binghamton on D&H rails. Power comprises EL locomotives from the three major builders of the era: U33C, GP35, and C424.

Photographed by John Barlow, 1971.
