The roundhouse, turntable, coaling tower and yard at North Walpole was a facility lost in time. Traffic had dried up on the Cheshire Branch and B&M GP-7 #1563 was sufficient to handle any local traffic in the vicinity.Two years earlier, the Green Mountain Railroad obtained trackage rights from the B&M and the North Walpole complex became the home base of operations for GMR as well as the nascent Steamtown
