We get to see one of the Beyer-Garrett 2-6-2 + 2-6-2s: #138 in Porthmadog station. The following day, we would travel behind one. In a normal year, seeing one or more of these beasts would have been the year highlight... but, having seen Big Boy 4014 in Utah, five months before.. There again, the year just got better!
