Mighty Fine Line freight eastbound at Booneville IA

At sunset on a sultry summer evening in 1970, a Rock Island eb freight perhaps from Denver or Council Bluffs chugs through Booneville IA just west of Des Moines. Power is a GP40 + U25B + U28B combo - note that 10 years hence when the Rock was in its death throes, U boat 226 was one of 14 purchased by Maine Central.

Photographed by John Barlow, 1970.
Added to the photo archive by John Barlow, June 6, 2019.
Railroad: Rock Island.
