LV RS2 idles at Sayre

The pedestrian bridge over the south end of LV's locomotive servicing area had a stairway down to track level, presumably for employees. This afforded the teenage railfan a limited opportunity to capture photos of LV power from the bottom step without technically trespassing, such as RS2 #213 wearing its 2nd LV paint scheme of Cornell red with single gold stripe. 213 and its fellow RS2/RS3 mates were regularly used on runs on the Auburn branch to points north of Owego or to Binghamton for D&H interchange service.

Photographed by John Barlow, 1968.
