What a difference 40 years makes!

In the lower left is CSS&SB interurban car #1 (built by Pullman in 1926) heading up a westbound train at Michigan City in the summer of 1969 loading passengers in the middle of 11th St. Zoom ahead 40 years to 2009, and we see a train of new double deck CSS&SB gallery cars (built by Nippon-Sharyo) idling at Van Buren St station in Chicago waiting for the evening rush back to Indiana.

Photographed by John Barlow, July 23, 2009.
