At the Conrail inception April 1, 1976, D&H acquired 10 Reading extended vision cupola cabeese built in 1971 by International Car Co (along with 20 almost brand new GP39-2s). In May 1976, an Class NEb cab brings up the rear of an eastbound D&H freight at Silver Springs, NY running on newly acquired trackage rights over Conrail's Southern Tier line
