N&W F7As & RS11 at Bison Yard Buffalo

It's a few weeks after C-Day April 1, 1976 as a pair of ex-Wabash F7As and an ex-NKP RS11 bask in the afternoon sun on the Cheektowaga side of Bison Yard as seen looking east from the Harlem Rd overpass (The portion of the yard west of Harlem Rd resided in the village of Sloan). Great place to watch trains as the Conrail era unfolded. Of course ultimately this once important yard for EL & N&W was significantly down-sized as Conrail downgraded EL's Southern Tier operations.

Photographed by John Barlow, September, 1976.
Added to the photo archive by John Barlow, March 11, 2019.
