CNR 6060 Excursion returning to Toronto

For a number of years in the mid-'70s to early '80s, CN operated Toronto-Niagara Falls fan trips pulled by oil burner 4-8-2 #6060. This capture shows 6060 returning to Toronto at sunset on a sultry evening in September 1976. Six years earlier, 6060 had been snoozing on display at CN's Jasper depot. In 1980, CN presented 6060 to the people of Alberta as a gift where it operated for Alberta Prairie Steam Tours in Stettler, AB until 2011. The Rocky Mountain Rail Society is now working to restore 6060 to operation once again.

Photographed by John Barlow, September, 1976.
