Back To Boston

In 1967 F Nelson Blount sponsored several steam excursions on the New Haven using his ex-CPR 4-6-2 #1246. On this day the train left South Station and traveled down to Putnam Connecticut on the Midland or Air Line then proceeded down the Norwich and Worcester to Groton and then dashed up the Shore Line to Providence. Here the steam engine cut off and New Haven GP-9 #1201 shown here is backing onto the train, taking over for the trip back to Boston.
