Topping Off The Coal At Danielson

F Nelson Blount sponsored a number of steam excursions on the New Haven using his ex-CPR 4-6-2 #1246. Here she is stopped at Danielson CT taking on coal and water. They used a trackside coal conveyor tall enough for the 1246's tender and the fireman and helper are shown here trimming the coal load. They would need the extra coal to complete the rest of the trip down to Groton and then on the fast Shore Line to Providence.
