old Old Saybrook

For decades before today's high level platforms were added, Old Saybrook, CT, was one of a number of station on the former New Haven where passengers crossed an active track to board trains, in this case westbounds. The tower operator insured that there were no opposing movements while people were on the tracks. Note also the "house track" at right; this looped behind the station building up until the 1980s.
