Roger on the Beacon Hill

Amtrak's unique Roger Williams RDC cab units pass the north end of Northup Avenue Yard in Providence while running as the Boston-New Haven Bay State, train 151. These cars were originally the end units of a six-car train purchased by the New Haven for Boston-New York service, but after proving unsuccessful in that assignment the cars spent the rest of their pre-Amtrak careers in Boston commuter service.

Visitor Comments about this Photo:

Several experimental trains on the New Haven ended up being relegated to the Boston-Providence service. I can remember as a child seeing the Comet arriving in Providence. Roger Williams ended up on this service. Currently this two car set is located in Lincoln, NH at Hobo RR where it is being refurbished
