DeWitt geep and visitor

Penn Central/Conrail 9973, seen at Cedar Hill Yard in New Haven, was one of the many RS3s re-engined with EMD prime movers by PC's DeWitt shop, hence the nickname "Dewitt geeps". It began life as New Haven 522. The Bangor & Aroostook GP38 behind it was one of the many diesels leased by Conrail from various sources during CR's early years.

Photographed by Tom Nelligan, November 28, 1977.
Added to the photo archive by Tom Nelligan, June 6, 2018.
