inbound at Chickering

Running against the flow of evening rush hour traffic, a pair of New Haven Budds led by an RDC-3 pass tower SS-185 (Chickering) in Boston's South End on their way to South Station. The location was named after the onetime Chickering Piano factory. Note the small freight yard in the background. This area is unrecognizable today due to development.

Photographed by Tom Nelligan, September, 1968.
