Lake Shore at WorcesterIn 1981, Worcester Union Station was a boarded-up, derelict shell with a leaking roof and little hope for a revival as Amtrak's eastbound Lake Shore Limited rolled by on a November afternoon, about to stop at the modest Amtrak station a few hundred feet east. Heritage equipment was still the rule on trains 448 and 449.
