RS3 on the NY&NE

When the New Haven abandoned the former New York & New England mainline west of Waterbury, CT, in 1937, the first two miles of track on the south side of Waterbury were retained for access to local customers. In the NH's final summer, RS3 548 worked a yard job on this min-branch. This trackage was active into the 1970s but is now long gone.

Photographed by Tom Nelligan, August, 1968.
