14 years later, I discover what's really odd about this photo...

On December 27, 2003, a little more than 14 years ago now, a triple headed Amtrak 449 Lake Shore Limited is passing long-gone CP-43 on the east side of Worcester. While looking at this photo today I wondered what the red boxes on the lead units trucks were. Turns out the leader of this unusual three engine power set for 449 is a 3rd rail equipped P32AC-DM which would ordinarily be used only for Empire Service trains. So how did 710 end up leading a wb at Worcester?
