Visitor Comments about this Photo:This engine as bought by Don Hallock in the early '70s for use on the Wolfeborough Railroad, the former B&M Wolfeboro branch. Don repainted it in B&M's classic maroon and gold, although I am unaware of its ever having worn those colors on the B&M. I have seen pictures of it in black with red nose stripes, and now this one in blue dip. Posted by John Stock on 2017-11-06 07:43:17 This must have been taken at the very end of its B&M life since the Wolfboro RR was in operation that summer. And, yes, John Stock is correct that 1186 was an S-3 as delivered from Alco, when on the Wolfboro and as purchased by Hobo since it has AAR trucks. However, Hobo eventually replaced the AAR trucks with Blount trucks, making it technically an S-1. I remember the shop crew finding a number of broken spring leaves in the AAR trucks as early as 1987. Posted by Steven Hall on 2017-11-06 08:31:01 You must be logged on to post comments. |
