Boston & Maine GP9 1741 was one of a couple that were drafted to help get the MBTA through a late-1970s shortage of commuter power, mated with a steam generator car leased from the Canadian National to provide train heat. On a January morning, this combination headed up an inbound Framingham train of ex-NH coaches at Weston.
