I don't have the date I snapped this shot on one of my trips to Boston to photograph the Pacifics and Moguls still pulling commuter trains out of North Station but it was 1955

With no head end cars, this looks like a commuter run. An E-7 powered the mail and milk train from North Station to Woodsville and return. Mail, RPO, REA, milk reefers with a coach or two. It arrived in Plymouth at 7am to delivery the mail and the Boston Globe to Clay's newsstand. Then return at 7pm with the farmers bringing in the milk cans.
