N&W 611 greets the photographers gathered at Burkeville with nice black smoke as it slows for the interlocking just ahead that will take it off of the historic Norfolk & Western main line and onto a connector to the former Virginian mainline that enabled N&W to bypass grades and the maintenance intensive High Bridge near Farmville, VA once it acquired the Virginian in 1958.
