the original Springfield Terminal

A few days after this photo was taken in August 1967, the Springfield Terminal cut back its trackage by about a mile, eliminating street running in downtown Springfield, VT, and also shutting down this little terminal at the far end of the original line. The wooden enginehouse at right had once served as the interurban carbarn. It was replaced by a new one-stall enginehouse at the new end of the line outside the center of town.

Photographed by Tom Nelligan, August, 1967.
