MBTA P502 departs FraminghamIt's a little after the 0615 sunrise as MBTA P502 heads inbound for Boston passing under the old signal bridge at the east end of CP-21 about to cross Bishop St. NYC searchlight signals are long gone from the bridgework in favor of wayside tri-light signal masts. Pxxx nomenclature was used by CSX dispatching to distinguish passenger trains from Qxxx/Bxxx/Yxxx freight/local/yard trains. But as CSX is a mere tenant on this now MBTA-dispatched track, the P prefix is no longer used to label the 40-50 daily MBTA trains that pass through Framingham.
