A street car named "The Whistler". This is the Lancaster Oxford & Southern\'s (LO&S) Railcar #10, owned by Strasburg Railroad in Pennsylvania. It was on loan to the Wolfeboro Railroad in New Hampshire in the 1970s and is now back on the Strasburg. Lancaster, Oxford & Southern Gas Motor Coach #10, built by Sanders Machine Shop in 1915, this motor car was purchased from Grasse River RR in 1962. It operated on Wolfeboro RR in ‘70s and Lowell Nat. Park 1980-1984. It was converted to diesel 2009 and sees service during the off peak season at Strasburg. Thanks to John Barlow, Bruce Nelson & John Stock for info

That is Lancaster Oxford & Southern's (LO&S) Railcar #10, owned by Strasburg Railroad in Pennsylvania. It was on loan to the Wolfeborough Railroad in New Hampshire in the 1970s and is now back on the Strasburg. Unknown how long it was in Lowell.

The National Streetcar Museum web site says trolley service was "re-established in 1984" by Lowell National Park (itself established in 1978), or the year after the photo of "The Whistler" was taken (note there doesn't appear to be any catenary above the car). http://www.trolleymuseum.org/lowell/streetcars.php
