CSX Q423 At Foss Reservoir with eclectic power

It's Saturday in June, 2004 so westbound freight Q423 originating at Framingham has an unusual power consist leading the train over Ashland's Foss Reservoir on its way to Selkirk. Ordinarily Q423 would have just 2 road units. But today it has a rogue's gallery of locomotives with ex-WM GP40-2 leading, followed by ex-C&O GP30 slug with its ex-C&O GP40-2 mother, two ex-Con SD40-2 units, and ex-Con C40-8W.

Photographed by John Barlow, June 5, 2004.

Railroad: CSX.
