Former LNE Shops and Roundhouse

Penn Argyl PA, Pennsylvania Avenue (route 512) Former Lehigh and New England Railroad Roundhouse and Shops building. Mostly serving the Concrete and Coal regions of Eastern PA the LNE\'s most lasting achievement is the Poughkeepsie Railroad Bridge over the Hudson River. This became part of New Haven Railroads line to Maybrook New York. With Coal loadings dropping the line voluntarily called it quits October 31 1961 while the road was still profitable. Most of the system was torn down while the Central of New Jersey took over the Concrete region lines. The line while active served Maybrook New York, and into Pennsylvannia to serve Columbia, Bangor, Martins Creek, Catasauqua, Palmerton, Nesquehoning, Bethlehem and Allentown.
