Rutland Passenger Station: Mooers ,NY

Just shy of the Canadian Boarder, its a beautiful June afternoon. There's no Milk train due, but thats about the only thing that's missing from this station scene. This is the 1800s era passenger station in Mooers, NY on the Rutland route to Ogdensburg. You may notice the rear wall of the station is at a slight angle, and that was to accommodate the old Plattsburgh and Montreal which crossed the tracks on a diamond. The building was taken out of use shortly after passenger service was discontinued on the Rutland, and managed to survive long after the tracks were gone. Mr. Larry E. Mannes- a retired employee of the Napierville Junction Railroad- acquired the station in 2006 and moved his beautiful wooden Oneonta built NJ caboose to the property. Having been an employee of the NJ, Larry obtained original NJ paperwork and hard wear. When I walked into the caboose It looked like the crew had just hopped off. The station has also been done incredibly well, and adorned with an excellent collection of railroadiana. Definitely a stop to make if you ever find yourself in the area!
