VTR B&R action -- Monday February 01, 2016

The northbound VTR B&R turn (431-2147 Natchez-311-432) marches over Church Street crossing in Shaftsbury Vt. with the setting sun at its back after earlier traveling to Hoosick Junction to grab PanAm Southern's inbound interchange. The 71 car train has 36 loaded salt cars on the head end which marks the second time in a week that blocks of salt traffic have graced the B&R. Originally the same quartet of engines brought 63 cars south from Rutland, which were dropped normally in North Bennington. After running "light" to the Junction, the VTR was ultimately helped by the PanAm Southern AD-1 power (348-514) lashed to the back end of the high tonnage train as "helper" power for the trip up the grade back to North Bennington.
