(Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uSBbjdHVfL8) The Vermont Rail System / National Rail Historical Society chartered a "Father's Day Special" train through the scenic, beautiful Green Mountains from Rutland to Ludlow, VT along the Green Mountain Gateway on June 21, 2015 with GMRC Alco RS-1 405 as the sole power. The NRHS 2015 convention was based in Rutland all week hosting special trains on freight only lines. Today marks the final "Grand Finale" day of this special week. Here, the westbound train for Rutland departs Ludlow as it crosses West Hill Road. The iconic GMRC 405 definitely blends in with the nice scenery.
