Walkersville SouthernThis out of service Plymouth engine is at the headquarters of the Walkersville Southern RR which operates 6.5 miles of track south of Walkersville, MD to Fredererick, MD over a former Pennsylvania RR branch from Hanover, PA to Frederick. The branch is pulled up from Hanover to Taneytown, MD (about 20 miles) and the rest is run down to Walkersville by the Maryland Midland RR. The bridge over the Monocacy River, two miles south of Walkersville, was washed out in 1972 and was not rebuilt by the state until the '90's. The Walkersville Southern first ran trains in 1995, but the state widened Route 26 in the '80's, so the RR cannot connect with the last 3 miles of track into Frederick. The trains run 6.5 miles down to Route 26 and then reverse.
