VTR B&R action -- Thursday February 12, 2015

The last of the passing snow squalls is just petering out leaving about three to four quick inches of snow, and with the arrival of the southbound B&R train (311-303-301) the serious business of attending to a balky frozen switch gets underway. The "polar vortex" of bitterly frigid temperatures and accompanying wind chills is about to descend as once again the departing three unit set of "candy-canes" will return to Rutland as light engines. The outbound car count here at North Bennington is upwards of 90+ cars, and today's southbound train wasn't even able to bring the entire train south due to the lack of room available here at NB. The anticipated 3PM connecting train looked good on paper but never showed.
