Starlight at the OC...

In Oregon, the OC stands for Oregon City, one of the oldest cities in the state. It dates back to the earliest immigration along the Oregon Trail in the 1840s and, in fact, the End of the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center is directly across the street from the depot.

Here's Coast Starlight #11 passing the Oregon City depot on its way to Los Angeles. OC is not a Starlight stop; it is served by twice-daily Cascades trains running between Portland and Eugene.

This day's Starlight is led by P42-9DC #99 and a 500-series P32BWH. Two baggage cars, instead of the usual one, trail the power, and the train includes an extra transition dorm sleeper and Viewliner Sleeper/Theater-Observation "American View" on the rear.
