Raymond, Mississippi freight house and station

Originally built as a branch line of the Southern Railroad of Mississippi in the 1850's, the line from Bolton, Mississippi (about ten miles north), terminated here. Later became Illinois Central. It was later extended through what is the brick building in the background about two miles south to intersect with the N,J & C, a narrow gauge line made standard gauge around 1890. These lines were abandoned by 1981.
