Berkshire Scenic Railway Museum Alco S-1 0954 is seen undergoing restoration work at the museum grounds in 2013. The Alco was built by the American Locomotive Co. (Alco) in Schenectady, NY in 1945 and was originally purchased by the Maine Central RR. In 1976, it was purchased by the General Electric Co. In the following years it was assigned to the GE Power Transformer Division at Pittsfield, Mass. and wore a yellow coat of paint. It was donated to the BSRM in 1988, the year the GE transformer plant shut down in Pittsfield.
