Boston's Old Northern Ave. Bridge

Along the Northern Ave. Bridge, over the Fort Point channel, lies the only existing stretch of Union Freight RR trackage. See Vol. 34 of the Shoreliner for more info on the Union Freight RR. The rails are embedded in the pavement, but are rusted and show through in several spots along the bridge approach and onto the bridge itself, mostly on the South Boston side.

On a side note, as an engineer, this is a magnificent structure, and it's pretty cool that it's being preserved as part of the harbor wak. Just too bad the rails have to be a victim of the progress.
